COVID-19 UPDATE: Services resume may 5th
After starting my early career as a social worker in Scotland, my love for people and travel eventually took me to the Algarve in Portugal where I worked extensively in the surf and tourism industry, before combining all of my passions in people, travel and surf culture, to train as a massage therapist. My training is in Swedish, Deep tissue and Myofascial release, and I like to combine these techniques, working intuitively with what your body needs and how you respond to treatment.
Having previously worked in high-stress environments both as a social worker, and running large scale hospitality businesses, massage was a therapy I was always interested in as a treatment for symptoms of stress and psychosomatic stress triggers. My training then led me to become more focused on the structural and physiological effects of massage, particularly in my work with surfers. Now I feel no such distinction has to be made, and, massage therapy to me is about the balance of the physical symptoms and emotional needs, and understanding the connection between both, and helping others to recognise the impact of emotional triggers and how they present themselves within the body.
When I am not treating clients, I will most likely be pursuing my other passion; spending time with my misfit crew of rescue dogs, who are just the best…!
